Lee "Scratch" Perry On the Wire

00 - lee scratch perry - on the wire.jpg

Lee Perry is one of my favorite vocalists (in addition to his widely-appreciated talents as a producer, e.g. "downpresser" from a few weeks ago, all of the best-produced Bob Marley tracks, etc.) For those of you who don't know the legends, this is very free-associative stuff, deeply intwined in his own personal pantheon and self-mythologizing. In my opinion, this album expresses this moment of Lee's development the best. It's mostly self-produced, with a couple of uncredited productions by Adrian Sherwood ("On the Wire" & "The Grim Reaper"). It's also got some great remakes of the classic Marley tracks "Exodus" and "Keep on Moving."

01. Lee "Scratch" Perry On The Wire
02. Exodus
03. For Whom The Bell Tolls
04. The Grim Reaper
05. Yes My Friends
06. Rock My Soul - one of the funnest spring-is-coming-feeling songs I know!
07. Seaside (Mystic Mirror)
08. I Am The Upsetter
09. Keep On Moving
10. Burn Funky
