The continuing report of all the food we ate on our trip to China and Korea.

1/9/06
McDonald's breakfast
-fake egg McMuffin (served on a hamburger roll w/ketchup without canadian bacon)

lunch at upstairs restaurant (Xian Duck)
-peking duck
-sweet and sour pork

snack: fruit-paste filled fried yam cakes

dinner in hotel room
-pork dumplings
-vegetable rice crepe rolls
-fried battered shrimp
-fried sesame noodles
-black rice + dried fruit sweet

1/10/06
in room breakfast
-black rice sweet
-fruit-stuffed yam sweet

-ham,chicken + mushroom
-pork
-lotus root cold salad

airplane dinner
-fish in dark sauce
-bun and butter

snack: Sharon's cookies w/chocolate

1/11/06 Shanghai
Metropole hotel breakfast buffet
-fried eggs (that man fried 'em)
-good coffee (!) served in classy art deco cups

Snack: no joke soup dumplings (famous worldwide)

Snack: Starbuck's Frappucchinos (we got really silly from the caffeine and ran around on the streets of Shanghai like maniacs)

Snack: cold soup dumplings (still good)

Airport dinner:
-pork chop meal set (including whipped topping dressing for salad)

Airplane snacks:
-dried fish pieces
-peanuts
-pressed soy cakes with preserved shrimp
-banana chips

Seoul Airport peanut butter crackers and snickers

1/12/06 Seoul
airport coffee
fresh donuts

Lunch at Lotteria (Korean fast food giant)
-bulgogi burger
-kimchi burger (pressed fried burger made of kimchi)
-kalbi burger

coffee and cakes near cable-car

dinner at family cart
-dok bogee
-battered fried chicken skewer w/BBQ sauce

1/13/06
freshish donuts filled w/red bean paste +other white paste (lotus nut paste?)

snack: sweet waffle w/strawberry yoghurt

McDonalds Luch at COEX (desperation buy which was disappointing except for the extreme thriftiess of Koreans - no napkins unless you ask, re-usable cups, rigorous and well-followed recycling guidelines for throwing out trash: dry trash/paper, wet trash/animal product, ice+drinks, cups are stacked)
-quarter pounders

Korean BBQ dinners
-kalbi (roll-cut off the bone) w/sesame leaves and salad of white cabbage and herbs
-bibimbop
-soju

snack: kitkat and lychee ice cream (haagen das)

1/14/06
fresh donuts (we liked 'em, OK?)

snack: sweet waffle w/chocolate flavor yoghurt from "Edward Waffle"

lunch at TechnoMart:
-samgeyang, incl. side of cubed rashish pickle

street-food snack: hot dog wrapped w/fries on a stick, fancy hamburger

-BBQ chicken skewer

1/15/06
airport breakfast (Dunkin Donuts)
-melon glazed and chocolate donuts
-crossandwich cubans (ham + cheese + sweet pickles)

airplane lunch
-bulgogishness
-smoked chicken w/celery salad (really good!)

(back in Beijing)

street-food snack: bian jing (pancake w/egg+pork skin)

2nd dinner at Uighers:
-lamb skewers
-bread stew

snack: 7-11 toblerone + crackers

1/16/06
breakfast: fresh yoghurt

airport hamburgers
airport vending machine near beer (d'oh -- it had such a robust can!)
airport vending machine beer (got it right, this time, but boy did I need to pee after all that liquid!)
"aviation pickle"


...and that was it!
