2 years in

this rickety fence is my two year earnings chart:

the blue columns represent the total take for each night I've been out -- dark blue are saturdays, medium blue are fridays, light blue are thursdays -- 191 nights total, by my count. the week totals are in orange.

this last year has been quite different than I imagined it. I did not learn about collaboration. What did I learn about? Running a (modestly) profitable business? Having a (modestly) secure place in the world? More thoughts to come...

wow, this is very interesting stuff! You could play around with numbers like these for hours... how much of the upward trend was due to adding thursdays? How did the average temperature and wetness/dryness affect things? Are there any other factors that seem to affect the numbers? What effect does not being out one week have on the next week? Are two semesters of Economics (one in Microeconomics and Marxism and one in Marcoeconomics) leaving me with lots of questions and not many answers? Without seeing the chart first (I saw this originally on LiveJournal) I was thinking that there would be more seasonal variation, and that might be what is happenning this Summer. And the best part is that you control the means of production without exploitation... good job!

I'm glad this is interesting to you -- I had no idea anyone was reading this (except, of course, for the inestimable pinky).

I'll try to address these factors -- season, weather, consistency of days out -- over the next few weeks, with more graphs, etc. If you have any ideas of graphs you think would be interesting, let me know. (even as I write this i'm wondering if I could chart earnings against rainfall totals!)

thanks again for taking an interest
