WAGE RATES: MAX THE MIN

hey 
the citizens 
of  florida and nevada
  both upped their state minimum wage 
            by 
overwhelming votes in popular  referenda 

and we're told 
in those very same 
voting booths
at that very same time
george bush won 
  slim majorities 
                      

lets follow the bouncing ball here....


red state  people 
want a decent wage for everyone 

i say lets let em all vote on a cola link...

 by the way
in terms of what it can buy
the federal minimum
            peak in 1968

if  it  
had just been 
cola-ed back then
indexed to inflation
 it would be 
  almost $7 an hour now 
(  the last increase 
     back in 97 
           brought 
 the federal minimum wage
 to $5.15 )

$ 5.15 
is now less than 
one-third
 of the average hourly wage 
of American workers

 the lowest level since 1949

 If the federal minimum wage 
were increased to  $7 an hour
 at least 7 and a half  million workers 
would receive a wage boost "
