why didn't the kold war die with stalin ????

 henry wallace said some where

the kold war  with its arms race

 would continue 

 till  the elites 

in washington and moscow 

 both at the same time

  saw nothing 

      useful left to gain from it  

well when uncle joe croaked in 53

 his pack of successors 

at least the leading elements 

                  wanted  "out"  

there could have been a gorby  type 

                         moment or two  

  but the 'i like  ike'  machine

          said not only to the ruskys 

         but churchill too 

              "nope...

we kinda like  the idea

        of keeping things 

             just  about as they are ....."

ten years later 

 the russians ousted special K 

 and

  stopped trying  any longer

  to end it all

    and so dear friends

roared off the mark

and 

under the cover of...detente  no less
