what if all of a sudden come big loses

 
 while all goes well
we forget
  our  paultry
   pleb-prole prosperity
to whatever exstent it exists 
is a function 
of the profiteers hayday

the flow of "real " results
and pay no attention 
to  the criss crossing paper flows
the web of arrangements 
what precisely it is the profiteers 
running the big shows
are doing to themselves

as they pile risk apon promise

 apon unfulfillable obligation

in these clear  financial waters
we look thru them
thru 
   their surface actions 
their  risks 

their  paper risks
  that
  will one day
  slam real 
down apon our heads 
                real misery 

hey

we're cool  here
 till that moment comes
 when just the wrong line
 gets called 
       at just the right time 

and the whole everest  of paper 
we walk about on as if its granite 
starts to rumple in on itself 
and we all plunge down

mark this 
  when  we  start  seeing
 our  dutch uncles
     jumping out of windows....

 it'll already be way beyond too late 

and   come  it will

i may live to see 
and when it comes 
we better setttle
in for a long  slow  slog 
back
from a whole so deep 
   in a  gear so low
we'd didn't know 
either one existed

    let their surviving  rump
            keep  playing   lead
                  thru the doldrums
