doc bottle neck

 WACKO Rx:

" lets build more SOUTH-HEMI
 doctors for export
            back north here "

the brain drain is already working pretty swell.....

nyt:

" 25 percent of all doctors
        in the United States

"A large majority - 60 percent -
 come from the developing world"

     now since
  local output is throttled:

" as the demand for doctors
   has grown significantly
 in the United States
medical school enrollment has barely budged"

 today
there are

"The annual number of medical school graduates
has remained almost constant since 1980,
despite a population increase of 50 million "

 "Over that period,
only one new medical school
              has opened its doors"

like refineries and power plants

 nice ARTIFICIAL SCARCITY bonus
            for existing MDs

"The Council on Graduate Medical Education
 now recommends that medical schools
 increase enrollment by 15 percent
          over the next decade"

TOO SLOW AND TOO COSTLY

why not export the capital
to india and china
to build some for profit med schools there

THAT MEETS THE GOAL:

" new medical schools geared toward
training general practitioners to increase
 the supply of doctors
at a relatively low cost "

AT AN EVEN LOWER RELATIVE COST
