oil shock ?

  as much
as green freaks
fantasize
about choking off
the mighty amerikan
             smoke monster

 seems
  the mother fucker
can take an oil punch
and keep on smokin
             better then ever

======================================

for example

americans

1) spent 8 percent
          of household income
           on oil related bills

 2) worked 102 minutes
          on average
          to pay
           for a 100-mile car trip

 3) and total
               energy costs
                 accounted
                  for 14 percent
                       domestic expenditures

Today

1) Households spend
             about 5 percent
         of income
                 on energy

 2) work 42 minutes
to pay
    for a 100-mile car trip

3) and total energy costs
             now account
          for only
             7 percent
             of the American economy"

  the tally

 8% to 5%

102 hrs to 42 hrs

and

14% to 7 %

progress indeed .......

 except in
        motor transport

that remains oil based

 "today
        American drivers alone
                       burn 11 percent
                      of the world's
                       total oil consumption "

--------------------------------------------------------
  rising oil prices
        also benefit

those lucky americans
   who own a piece
  of our domestic
            recoverable oil resources

n.b. unlike
   our first world rivals

 amerika the ugly
              still produces
                a huge amount of oil
