the "emerging "mailer on containment in the ike age

seeing as i'm on Mailers tail
and seeing that kennan just past.....

before he went white negro

norm

had a few not so shabby ideas
                     about "defending"
                                  kold war europe

====================================

i won't waste time
     showing how he got there

but he reached
the "nice" point
crucial to kold warriors

     the soviets "need" to swallow
                      western europe to "prosper"

by the

"plunder" policy drive

the move west
would be for
 a quick commodity fix

to keep the red masses laboring

at its black and blue core

the kremlin's
 is nothing more
then a "slave" production system

gulag smoolag
the whole set up
is just so many desecending concentric rings
                                          of toilers' hell on ice

a given the finite ghost in all of us

the process runs down as it runs its human parts down

"a man as well as an animal
can be worked to death"

hence the need for an outside fix

(nitze in nsc 68
kinda goes this route too)
spontaneously
it can't reproduce itself stand alone

what else can lift the output levels

since the set up left to its lonesome
only
" demands more and more toil
for less and less
            "goods and creature comforts"

an '84 type
          orwell rig .....

but if only there were
"a stalinist europe"

then --and this gets fuzzy--

the set up could boot strap up
to yank output standards
and set the platform for" a stalinist world"

thisthe revolution needs germany and france (at least )
is a nice bookend
to the trot bit
socialism can't cut it in one country
                             of the early 20's

norms nice little wrinkle

the kind that gets
ironed out
  in the general mass hysteria

the soviets need to swallow western europe "intact"

  and
the kremlin
  "has to know"

they can't
         succeed by arms
"they'll be just "adding another grave yard"

why?

cause
" us forces
 though certainly
  not enough to hold
             the german plain
              against a soviet thrust
 still are
              certainly plentiful enough
to scorch
every factory
 on the way
         back to britain

hence to norm

the huge acheson build up
to "hold the line in europe"
              is mostly
               wall street bull-dickery

all but the strategic bomber command bit at any rate

(norm here
  shared mental territory
with the likes of just elected
senator goldwater )
the up shot:

"the soviets are forced to find
           a peaciful way
to bring western europe
                into its orbit"
-------------------------------------------

  the norm-view benign in itself
unfortunately
         was
 effectively submerge-able

because
norm
" sees"
the same

" inside group mind "

running the kremlin

as the boldest badest kold warrior

  because of fatal flaws
           in its production base

the kremlin
  was

"a wanna be euro-aggressor "

and since norm also agrees with the koldees

that

"to allow europe
to produce for the needs of the soviets
would be fatal
to american world dominance "

and yet
none of these pundits
norm included

ever care
to carry their line
all the way to the end
to prove this final point

what if we gave em europe?

take this
  all the way
thru
to the final stage

where a fuller analysis shows

the soviet center can not hold

and what waits for a red success
 out ahead
is
   "the inevitable "
        final internal system morph

oh yee of little faith

take strength from this

the internal flaws will out

there is no escape level

no point
where productive forces
are beyond where
the system winds down to stagnation

there is no
 take off point
to perpetual development
not for the stalin system at least

even after euro fusion

there would be national fissions

 just
as we saw
 culminating itself
                   in '89

that was not the result ultimately
of containment
but of internal flaws

if the camp of stalin had been the human race

still
      the mooorph cometh

say thered been
an early 50's
         success swallow

"a gulp down
of not just germany
but picasso's paris
felini's rome
and franco's spain

what you may ask

would have inevitibly
 entrained ?

simple

a '89 moment

when?

sooner or later ?

my guess sooner

and
 with a cleaner morph

yes little ones

despite kennan's
  self serrving
opposite claim

that with europe goes the whole woild

a claim that
 not only produces
his containment Rx

but quite nicely

 the one and best
high profit option
for
wall street too

wall streets overseas ops

 indeed
would be
  big losers
if as in orwell and burnham

the marxa-cockalls

 reached the channel .....

==============================================
-----------------------------------

by the way

heres norm in the same piece

on the practical limits
of keynesianism

"one can hardly visualize
the cure of capitalism's short term ills
through a nostrum
which asks private financial empires
to accommodate themselves
to the gradual dissipation
and eventual transformation
                        of their domestic hammer lock"
---------------------------------------

"korean war

a move by stalin
"to keep china "
from
     "a titoist deviation"

not bad norm not bad

---------------------------
and how about this....

norm
on the necessary red menace

"if the soviets
   were in fact
  living
 in some sort of
    tinker bell type
               proletarian utopia
           something
              right out of the mind
                             of the young rene clair

            be assured uncle sam
                            would still
                         need to make us see
                                  a nite-mare
                                    over there
                        and
                          probably one that ran
                                      along lines
        not too very far off
   from
what
 stalin's handiwork
seems to have actually produced "

the cunning of history eh?
