just before
the elvis rage
dis-grace landed
like a flying saucer
in the dead middle
of Ike-ville

was quite
a different
confrontation
with amerika the hideous
by now
we white breads
have swallowed him
whole too

but Parker....
that man remains
a lovely
bone in our throat
