the great american car commute

 just another promise
i won't prolly keep

but american jobberys
 car commute
  needs a rye eye
    look see be4
     it eats us all alive

=================================================

 figure it this way:

if we're full timers
        we're looooookin' at
           the equivalent
                   of three "work" weeks worth
                          of additional
                                  time per year
                                       for every half hour
                   we add
to our daily jobble round trip

----------------------------------------------
right now
looking at it
 state by state
the greater north american
   commonwealth on wheels
is averaging
 four to six
   " work "weeks
       of
    commute time
                 per year
yup
    4 to 6
    in the car
        on the road
listening to some air waver
       whilst
  we go
     to and from
         one or other
              "jollywood " job site

  but fuck

the good news izzzz

well

there iz no good newz

commute times
  are
 headed

higher
 and higher

and at

a faster
 and faster rate

where it will all end

only god and congestion can tell

very true. this is how i got caught up with that kunstler guy. he asks what i wondered already. how long is this commuter hell or the architecture and city planning which makes it necessary going to be sustainable? kids i grew up with are all moving out west from chicago, or further south, into what ten years ago was just farmland and they're mortgaging houses in lands with absolutely no history, that require at least a 40 minute commute to get back to the old country, where they still work and do their socializing. watching them drive it is watching it drive them one by one crazy and stupid. it is unpaid labor which costs them money. its going to get more expensive too isn't it.
